Support Our Troops

I was more than honored when Melissa Delgadilo, Miss Houston International, invited me to participate in her campaign to Support Our Troops. Our Troops put their lives in danger each and every day to protect our country and give us a feeling of security. I am so proud to live in this beautiful country where we have so many strong and brave men and women who serve our country so honorably. Sending my appreciation in the form of autograph pictures overseas is the least I can do to thank the men and women who protect not only my country and my freedom but who protect me.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!

The Reading Bug at the Zula B. Wylie Library

Catch the Reading Bug at the Zula B. Wylie library! I was more than excited to be a guest at the Zula B. Wylie library Friday morning. Story time was a blast with the 2-5 year olds, as we learned about different types of bugs! The lights went off as we listened to a story about a very lonely firefly and we even and spotted some lights around the dark room! As we sang nursery rhymes and learned to read books about bugs, the kids were thrilled to move on to arts and crafts! The volunteers at the Zula B. Wylie library prepared a special activity for the kids, following the summer bug theme. Making ladybug hats was such a joy and my favorite part was sitting and talking to the kids themselves. I was bombarded with questions about my title and what my duties as a queen are! As I spoke on my platform, “Creating Hope with the Power of Knowledge” I explained to them the reason I was at the library that morning. Education truly is the key to success and I am so proud to volunteer my time at the local library to help spread the power of knowledge in fun, fresh and exciting ways to children! Our goodbyes were only temporary, as I promised all the kids I would be back soon. I can’t wait for the next time I visit!

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure!

Saturday morning was super exciting!! I was very honored to walk in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Plano, TX with my wonderful sister queens, Kelli and Angelique, the best director ever, Kristin and many other beautiful local sister queens! Led by Miss International, Ashley Smith, we were walking in celebration of Ashley’s mom, a strong SURVIVOR of breast cancer. The morning was filled with stories and laughs between sisters. As we walked around and visited with the other participants, I absolutely loved sharing this event with not only my International family but children, adults and breast cancer survivors from all over Texas!

Building Inner Beauty

With society's emphasis on outward appearances, related pressures and expectations, females can be easily discouraged under constant comparisons.  BIB provides opportunities for ladies to be confident in their strengths and better understand their weaknesses, allowing growth and development beyond their initial hesitations or limitations.

“A developmental program equipping girls and women to open themselves to the realities of their dreams.”

Self-confidence is, in my opinion, the number one tool to success! I was very excited to be a guest at the Miss Inner Beauty Pageant this past Saturday. With my amazing sister queen, Kelli Ansley, I had the opportunity of sharing a morning with girls from all across the Dallas area who may lack the self-confidence to shoot for the stars and explore everything this world has to offer. I particularly shared my experience at the Miss Teen Texas International state pageant. I explained to the girls how I initially felt very inferior with all the very talented and beautiful girls all around me. I was also very scared because my number one cheerleader, my mom, was not able to be there the first day. All alone, I was very worried and hesitant. But, as soon as I got into orientation and started talking to all the girls and having a good time, I completely forgot about my worries and just performed to the best of my ability. Inner beauty comes from within and truly shines with your personality and how you interact with people; this is more important than any amount of make-up, hair styles or beautiful gowns.

Sharing with these beautiful and prospective queen social skills, interview tips, stage presence and even an awesome choreographed opening number dance, I was honored to be a part of such a great event.
