Afternoon Crafts at the Zula B. Wylie library

I was delighted to spend another warm summer afternoon, helping with craft time inside the library. As always, the children there were on their best behavior. We had a blast making homemade tic tac toe game boards!

What made this time so different was the children who asked how I was crowned, and what I needed to do leading up to the Miss Teen Texas International pageant. I was able to share what exactly my title entails and what exactly the International pageant circuit is all about. I shared about the experience I had at the state competition, and what I’m looking forward to at Nationals. This is exactly what I needed while preparing this last week before Chicago!

I am so proud that so many young children find an interest in my title and as we spoke about goal-setting and my platform of “Creating Hope with the Power of Knowledge”, the children left awe-struck and with hands full of paint from our ‘crafty’ afternoon!

East Dallas girls are SMART girls!

I was ecstatic when I was given the opportunity to once again visit another Boys and Girls Club site! This past Friday I was able to speak to the girls of The Greater Dallas Area Boys and Girls branch. I was able to see the power of the crown by the influence it had on these beautiful girls. As the atmosphere once again changed by the appearance of a queen, the girls all sat starry eyed as I spoke to them about setting goals, questing after knowledge and shooting for the stars! As all the young ladies shared their personal goals and aspirations, they all learned more about each other, the future and even about me!
They loved the games we played, as we all got in a big circle and shared like-dreams and goals, such as going to college, being a doctor or even learning how to drive! I am proud that I can impact so many aspiring young ladies, just like me, in my community. My time with these girls quickly passed as we couldn’t stop playing these fun games. I am so honored to be a part of the Boys and Girls Club and speaking to the East Dallas SMART girls was just the cherry on top!

Cedar Hill's Got Talent!

My hometown of Cedar Hill is filled with many talented young individuals. Just this last Thursday I was able to emcee the Summer Talent Show at the Zula B. Wylie Library.
Whether it’s Alexa, the brilliant, 3-year-old tap dancer, or David, the impressive magician and string artist; these children certainly wowed and captivated their audience of parents and peers. I was nothing short of impressed at the end of the event. I’m looking forward to the next opportunity I have to go back to this center of learning and communion!

We are all SMART girls!!

Throughout my years of working with children and giving numerous speeches and presentations, I had never before experienced the true power of a crown. As I walked into a group of young girls last Thursday, their demeanor immediately changed, as they were now in the presence of a queen. I am extremely proud to be a role-model to numerous young individuals around the world and truly enable them with the power of knowledge. I knew from looking into these girls’ eyes that I was truly impacting them and they were taking away something valuable from my presentation.

I was more than excited to kick-off my affiliation with the Boys and Girls Club’s SMART girls program last Thursday at the Mesquite branch. The girls' faces lit up as I walked in the gymnasium and I knew right away – this is the place for me! I had a great time speaking with the girls, ages 6-12, about staying in school, setting goals and how there are no limits to dreaming big! The girls loved answering questions and even getting beaded necklaces for their enthusiasm and participation. I am so proud to be partnered with the Boys and Girls club as I work so passionately with my platform of Creating Hope with the Power of Knowledge while also maintaining the mission of the Boys and Girls Club of helping every child reach their full potentials with core beliefs in hope and opportunity.
